The Internet changed the way ads are delivered to consumers. Podcasting represents the next wave in advertising. Targeted advertising delivered on the topical podcasts advertisers want - It's a perfect marriage. Design Rite has its own network of podcasters so we can offer greater choice and better targeting to you.

Design Rite has the only totally self-service marketplace for podcast sponsorships. So create a campaign and thousands of potential customers can hear about your product or service today.

Design Rite also provides localised advertising options -- so even if you're a retail outlet, a restaurant or a mom-and-pop shop, you can take advantage of everything the podcasting revolution has to offer!

1. What is a podcast?
A podcast is an online audio show that can be downloaded from the Internet. What makes the podcasting medium unique are a subscription model and offline listening.
1.Subscription Model: Listeners can subscribe to podcasts. When new shows are published, they will be automatically downloaded to the subscriber's computer, iPod, or other portable device. Nearly all podcasts are free to subscribe to.
2.Offline Listening: Because podcasting was designed to work with iPods and other portable devices, many listeners experience podcasts offline. A live connection to the Internet is not required to listen.
2. How do listeners find podcasts?
Many podcast directories exist that organize podcasts and allow listeners to find programs they are interested in. Apple's popular iTunes program includes a built-in podcast directory. Other online directories include iPodder.org, Odeo.com, and BTPodshow.com.
3. How many people are listening to podcasts?
According to a TDG research study, over 10 million listeners will download and listen to podcasts in 2006. Within five years the total audience size is expected to reach 56 million, spread across hundreds of thousands of podcasts. With over 14 million iPods sold in Q4 of 2005 alone, this expansion will only continue to accelerate.
4. Why would I want to advertise on podcasts?
Podcasting is a revolutionary new medium that takes the best of topical radio, yet allows the listener to retain control of what they listen to, when they listen to it and how they listen to it - whether they're listening to their MP3 player on-the-go or at home with their PC.

As an advertiser, you're reaching a captive audience that has made a pro-active choice to download the podcasting content you're advertising on. So if you own a chain of gardening stores, you can reach a wide audience with podcasting by targeting advertisements at all gardening-related podcasts.
5. How can advertisers reach podcast listeners?
Design Rite’s unique podcasting ad network allows advertisers to easily reach a wide variety of highly targeted programs. Design Rite automatically handles ad placement, download tracking and billing. With Design Rite, advertisers can manage large ad campaigns spread across many podcasts, and view consolidated reports on campaign activity.
6. I don't have any in-house ad creation capabilities. What are my options?
Podcast sponsorships can take many forms. First, if you've already put effort into developing radio advertisements, it might make the most sense to adapt those spots for podcasts. However, podcasts are a new medium with new rules, so many podcasters will want to have advertisements that seamlessly integrate with their content.

An easy option, and one that many podcasters prefer, is the spoken-word endorsement. Using Design Rite, you supply a script for the podcaster to read. The podcaster then uploads one or more readings to Design Rite, where you can review them and send feedback to the podcaster. Once you've approved an acceptable reading, Design Rite can place and track that ad just like any other.
7. How are the ads placed into the podcasts?
All ads are uploaded into the Design Rite system, where they'll be placed and tracked according to the way you've set up your ad campaign. Design Rite currently supports ad placements at the beginning and end of a podcast. Placement in the middle of a podcast will be supported very soon.

The actual ad placement occurs at point-of-download. This allows us to do great things like rotate multiple ads and do locally targeted advertising. Because Design Rite places each ad individually, we can track exactly how many times an ad was downloaded in real-time.
8. How much does it cost to advertise on podcasts?
Please contact us for details, its cheaper than you think.
9. How are ads for podcasts produced?
There are a few different ways that an ad for a podcast can be produced:
1.Spoken word advertisements: The advertiser supplies a short script for the podcaster to read. The podcaster records one or more readings and sends them to the advertiser for approval. Design Rite provides a web-based workflow that makes all these steps fast and easy.

Once approved by the advertiser, Design Rite will automatically place the ad, track the download activity and provide online reports to the advertiser.
2.Repurposed radio ads: Many advertisers have existing radio ad spots that can easily be repurposed for placement on podcasts. Design Rite can provide assistance with any format conversions necessary to place existing radio ads on podcasts.
3.Original ads: Design Rite has several affiliates who provide audio/creative services for producing original ads for podcasting. Advertisers interested in producing an original ad should contact Design Rite for more information.
10. Does Design Rite support video podcasts?
Not currently. We plan on introducing support for video podcasts very soon, so keep a lookout here for updates!
11. There seem to be several different approches to podcast advertising. What's different about Design Rite?
Design Rite represents a dynamic, open and flexible approach to podcast advertising. From a podcaster's perspective, we do nothing to their broadcast and the technology behind it, their MP3 file. We insert ads into the broadcast without podcasters having to change a thing. Podcasters retain control of their content.

From an advertisers perspective, you retain control of where your sponsorships run, how those campaigns are rolled out, and you strike the deals with the podcasters through the Design Rite Podcast Marketplace - No podcaster will be forced upon you for a potential spot.
