Please note that the judges decision is final. We will not reconsider our decision rendered at the time we notify you. If you do not wish to display our award, please notify us. You may re-apply after 14 days of our decision should you make changes to your site that would meet our criteria to qualify for our award. Please also make sure that you read the disqualification page.
Criteria
Review these rules carefully, so that your site will have the best chance of winning one of our awards.
Immediate Disqualification
Sites which include pornography, racism, hate messages or the promotion of violence of any kind, warez or hacks, Illegal content of any kind, cursor trailers, Pop-up and pop-under ads, or forced downloads ,will be immediately disqualified. If your site contains any of this material, please DO NOT APPLY, as we will not evaluate your site. Sites should not have any Under Construction signs.
Any site containing links to any of the above is also immediately disqualified.
General Rules
Sites applications cannot be accepted by an applicant under the age of 13, due to COPPA regulations. Sites must be submitted by the owner or webmaster/webmistress sites can be recomended.
Sites must be in English or have an English translation.
The site must be accessible. We will try to access your site at three (3) different times. If we are unable to, the evaluation will end.
The site should have at least six (6) pages of content. Content can include displays of awards won, pages cannot consisting of just links. Text should be readable and not in mixed case. This is DiFfIcUlT to read! Text colour should be easily read against the background colour. the review will end if we find it difficult to read.
Sites should have a colour scheme or graphic theme that is consistent throughout the site. This is also true of fonts consistency counts. Scripting of any kind used within the site should work and not crash our browsers. Any site which we feel may crash our browser will not be evaluated any further. All material on the site should be original (although we will accept credit where you have used any other persons material). Sites which take longer than one (1) minute to load will end the evaluation.
If your site has music, we must be able to turn it off. If your site has a flash introduction, we must be able to skip it.
Only 1 application per thirty (30) days. If you don't win an award, make needed changes to your site and re-apply after thirty (30) days.
You can only apply for 1 of our awards within any thirty (30) day period, if our judges feel that you deserve a higher award because you have scored higher we will offer you this in an email.
If you decide you would like the original award applied for you can of course have that award. If you change your mind and feel that you would like to have the higher award offerd you will have to re-apply after thirty (30) days of receiving your award.
Winners will be listed with a link back to the winning site on our award winners page.
Winners will be notified by email, with the graphic and the link back code for the award they have applied for . This will occur within fourteen (14) days of application.
Scoring
The total possible points that can be earned is fifteen (15). In all areas below, the points are awarded a minimum of zero (0) points to a maximum of three (3) points.
1) Technical: Good use of technology such as scripting, flash, html etc.
2) Content: Site content is informative or entertaining to the visitor. The content free from spelling or grammatical errors. Content is presented in a logical format.
3) Navigation: The site navigation is intuitive. The navigation is on every page, so as to eliminate use of the browser Back button. It is not possible for the user to become confused in navigating the site.
4) Graphic: The site graphics are pleasing to the eye. The graphics are sufficiently optimized to allow for fast loading of the pages. The graphics do not overwhelm the site, at the expense of the site content. They enhance and complement the site's content.
5) Overall Appeal: The site adds value to the Internet. This is a site visitors would want to visit again. The webmaster/webmistress displays an understanding of web user's behavior in his/her design.
Word to include as the password/secret word (note this does change often) "Tascha"
Although we ask that you have an awards won page this is not a strict criteria, as long as you agree to post our award in a prominent position on you home page, (not to be posted on a links page as this is an award for all to see)
